A Taste of Wool and Cotton

Wool and Cotton Company presented a great Yarn Tasting at our June meeting.  There were probably over a dozen yarn samples on needles for us to knit, pass around and comment on. You can see in the photo's below the beautiful yarns Annaliese and Gina brought for us to sample and purchase.  They also let us know about upcoming events at their shop. They raffled off  a  ticket to the Nerd Girls fiber class,  a tote bag  and a $50.00 gift certificate to the store.   Go to  www.woolandcottonco.com  for the details on the upcoming events.

We came thru again with over 132 baby sweaters and still counting.  There are some knitters who couldn't make the meeting and will be bringing their items to the June meeting for delivery to The Christ Child Society.  As you can see we had lots of other items that were appreciated by the Ladies of The Christ Child Society.  

Every year there are new patterns that you use.  They are all so cleverly done!

Our snack table was also a wonder to behold.

Yarn Tasting at April 11 Meeting

You’ve probably heard of a wine tasting, but what about a yarn tasting?  Annalise from Wool and Cotton Co. will be joining us and bringing a variety of yarns for us to try! You will want to bring a variety of needle sizes so you can sample all the yarny goodness, I suggest you bring at least sizes 4, 6, 7, and 8 because we don’t know yet what she will be bringing - that’s part of the fun! Annalise will also have a shop set up just in case you just have to have one (or more!) of the yarns we try.

Hidden Valley Farm & Woolen Mill

I was so overcome at the sight of this really wonderful yarn that I forgot to include the owners of Hidden Valley Farm, Paul J. and Carol Wagner, in a photo.  This is going to sound boring but it wasn't.  Their program gave us the nitty gritty of running a sheep farm.  I loved it.  From the feeding dilemma caused by multiple births to one ewe to the talk of predators- the only sheep they have lost was to a neighbors dog, not to the coyotes in the area.  The yarn they brought was exceptional and one of our members bought a fleece.  Take a trip out to the farm this year.

Yarn Bowls Ready to Use

They looked spectacular at the meeting!  Very creative pieces.

January Yarn Bowl Event at La Terazza

The Yarn Bowl Event took place on January 10 at LaTerraza.  http://www.potteryfun.com/

They provided 2 different types of bowls.  One skein and another with 3 holes for stranded knitters.

As I look at the photos I don't see anyone with splotches of paint on themselves so it looks like a pretty successful time.
